Car is turbocharged
F4A33-1 automatic transmission
ranges from shifting perfectly to slamming the car
does it going into reverse and drive
might be affected by the huge vacuum leak I have, I believe it is in my -intake manifold
all gears shift fine except first gear seems to some times shift hard into -second might be holding in first gear too long(like it will rev to 4000 -before going into 2nd
another odd thing is if I accelerate a little harder than normal and let -off close to where it seems to want to shift it will kind of lurch from -that

The idle speed may be too high causing the hard shifting. You sound about right with the vacuum leak. The hard shifting 1-2 may be a throttle pressure cable adjustment. Get it checked to confirm.

First, thanks for your reply.
Second, do you have any other ideas on the hard shifting into drive and reverse because the idle speed is usually appropriate?

It may be in the trans if your mounts and idle speed are good.
