HAPPY 2011 to all;
I own a 1997 Dodge neon with 134.000 miles Sohc 2.0 automatic that burns oil but runs. Recently a check engine code p0171 fuel system lean began to appear within minutes of the car being driven.I remember a few years ago having the same code but only when the vehicle was restarted warm and driven on the highway. Example; got off hwy to get fuel, restarted the car hit the hwy reached 60 mph and the light went on. Now it goes on in city driving at 20 mph. Both the up stream and down stream ox sensor have no more than 4000 miles on them, the map sensor was replaced last year, the cables and plugs have about 12000 miles on them, new air filter in, new fuel pump and regulator(2 years ago)The only noticible performance defect is that the car has no power under load(hill or bridge climb)If I press the gas pedal down to the floor slowly than the car picks up and goes. At around 15 mph to 20 mph the engine has a long pause before it shifts on a straight road while under load it wont shift keeping me at about 20 mph while you actually see the fuel gauge dropping sucking gas like a Mack truck. Whats wrong with this car?
Thanks to all

Lean fuel condition could be caused by one of the following below:

1. Vacuum leaks
2. EGR and PCV valve.
3. Low fuel pressure.
4. Dirty fuel injectors.
5. Mass Air Flow Sensor.
6. Oxygen Sensor.
