When everything is cold, the transmission on my '97 Dodge Dakota tends to pop out of gear or to downshift until everything has come up to temperature. After that, everything is fine.
I've been told that it may only need a flush and filter job. What all is involved in performing this?

Have a trans guy check this out he canscan I t for codes to make sure nothing is screwing up on it. It sounds as if there may be an electrical problem or maybe dirty fluid. However with as many miles that is on this vehicle it's best to have atrans uy look at it. If y our fuid is brown/dirty a trans fluid change at this point may be asking for trouble.
