Chevy k2500 5.7 vortec engine. New distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, new fuel pump and fuel filter but cranks and cranks, when I put the petal to the floor it finally fires and idles high and then I put it into gear and it acts like its going to die and then goes to normal idle. Also seems sluggish after it warms up. What could it be?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked the IAC?

Be careful not to put your hands or anything near the moving parts, but start the engine and open the hood. Can you hear any hissing sounds that may be a vacuum leak?

The IAC is the idle air control valve. It is located on the throttle body and responsible for the engine idle. Remove it and have a helper turn the key from off to on a few times. The pintel at the end should slightly move.
