I have replaced the battery and the alternator in my 1997 chevy blazer. When the truck is running it is fine. If it sits for more than 1 hour the battery has lost just enough power so it wont start. Even after letting it sit for 8 hours about 30 seconds after hooking up battery cables it starts right up and runs fine. Any suggestions

With that kinda draw remove the neg cable at the battery. Touch the neg cable to the battery post a few times. You will see and hear sparks. You need to put a multi meter to the cable and the battery post. Then youll get a reading.

Yes my battery is dying. I unhooked the negative cable and hooked up a test light. I found a fuse that was shorting out which im assuming was the problem. Unfortunately its my courtesy fuse which runs interior lights door buzzers and my back window latch. Any suggestions on how to narrow down the short?

YOU NEED TO REMOVE THAT FUSE FIRST BEFORE CONTINUING TO TRACE BECAUSED THE DOOR STAYS OPEN WHYLL YOUR PULLING THE FUSES. OR YOULL NEED TO CLOSE THE DOOR AFTER YOU PULL EACH FUSE. WHEN YOU PULL THE FUSE WITH THE DRAW THE LIGHT WILL DIM. THEN TURN THE HEADLIGHT ON LOOK AT THE BULB BRIGHT THEN TURN THEM OFF THE LIGHT WILL DIM. START BY REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLE FROM THE BACK OF THE ALTENATOR TO SEE IF THE LIGHT DIMS.
