We replaced the timing chain with a full kit and the car has been running good. I parked the car and it sat a few weeks. we went to drive it to a friends house and when we cranked it the oil light came on and did not go off. we turned the car off and since have replaced the oil pressure switch fresh oil and oil filter. The same problem still is happening and the car didn't sound right when we ran it for a minute. Do we need to try the oil pump screen next or is there anything else other than the oil pump that could be causing this issue?

I doubt the screen is plugged did you make sure when you put the front cover back on you didn't over silcone where the oil pump drain back hole is where it meets the oil pan? Those oil pumps dont fail very often.
