so i'm lookin to buy this 96 silhouette cause i had a lumina apv and it was very reliable it had the 3.1 pushrod engine with throttle body. this olds has the 3.4 pushrod engine with very high miles but owner says he took good care of it and has replaced intake gaskets once already. my concern really is the timing chain. if it fails or jumps will it BEND VALVES! lots of opinions on NET! i would like to hear from someone who has ACTUAL EXPERIENCE on this yr (96) motor! i know they have cam problems but bent valves is my main concern. thanks

it is an interference motor. the valves will be damaged if the chain fails
