Problem on L200 startup

The main battery cable attached to battery is overheating and producing smoke everytime I start the engine. The battery is new.

Which cable? A fat one goes to the starter and another one goes to the engine block. A small one goes from the negative post to the body. There will be another smaller one leaving the positive post.
