Dirty fuel

We just had the fuel filler neck and the fuel tank replaced on our 1996 Mazda pickup and then filled it up with gas. The guy who put in the new fuel tank emptied the tank and then cleaned the gas and put it back in, although there wasn't much in it then. It started having problems again so we took it in and they said it needed a new fuel filter and fuel pump, but they said the gas in the tank was filthy. How did this happen? Did we purchase dirty gas?

After 13 years, the residue form the fuel, water collection and such builds sediment on the bottom of the tank. You would be surprised the amount of residue in fuel.

Ok sorry, then yes, you may have got bad fuel. Never get gas at a station when they are getting gas from the big truck. It stirs up the crap in there underground tanks and it goes into the tanks of the people fueling up.
