I bought a 96 town car with a 3.6 engine a couple of months ago. It was a one owner, an avaition engineer. It was very well taken care of and has 126,000 miles. I took it to Aamco to have the transmission fluid changed. They dropped the pain and showed me some what I thought was minor metal material and pretty burnt fluid. They said they wouldn't change the fluid because if they did it would dislarge more metal and ruin the trans within a couple weeks. Can someone advise me as to leave the trans fluid alone or go ahead with the flush and change. Please give a 62 year old guy some help.

change the fluid. trans shops tend to show you normal wear and tear and tell you it is abnormal and scare you into a new trans. not all of them do this, but there are a few that do.
