oil change

I have a 1996 Honda Passport v6 the valves have been clacking loudly , i had the head gaskets changed but i would like to know what to do about the noise, also i have been using 10w30 oil in it if i change to a heavier oil woould that hurt the engine and will that make a difference with the valves

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if its normal-if so and still making clattering noises-time to check the valvetrain-excessive valve lash/lifters/camshaft etc-

Just to let you know, adjusting the valves on a passport is not an easy thing to do and can be pricey at a repair shop.
