In which D should I drive during normal driving conditions the little D in the box or the plain D.

The "D" with the circle around it is for "overdrive". That is fourth gear and is the choice for all normal driving. Third gear, the "D" without the circle, is recommended for pulling a trailer, but I don't recommend that for any small car. Using third gear will use a lot more fuel and increase engine wear and noise.
