It's 14 degrees here in Minnesota, and my son's Audi will not shift out of park ! I think it is the brake-transmission interconnect solenoid. Is there any way of getting into reverse or drive so I can get it to the repair shop? Or do I need to tow it?

Is there a manual release on the shifter assembly? Some have slots you insert the key and releases it.

Check your owners manual.

Wow. I wasted a donation on this? After a Google search, I found someone finally with a similar problem. The car manual had no clues to this either! It was the brake light FUSE that was bad (#9 -10amp). I just used the spare fuse and the Automatic Shift Lock (ASL) disengaged the shifter to allow me to drive the car! Happy New Year (its almost 2013).
