CV axle is sliding out of the transmission when i turn, which is causing it to bind up and break when i straighten out I know for a fact the retaining clip is on there, i thought with that there it would take an excessive amount of force to remove the axle from the transmission.

the gears in pic would be damaged, which you need to tear apart transmission to ge t to it. but make sure that you try to put axle allthe way in you shold hear a click when it goes in.
