1995 Saturn SL1. Battery indicator on the dashboard remains on. Does it mean it is a battery problem or could it be something else. While driving noticed that the windshield wiper was moving very slowly and later the car lost power . Have purchesed a new battery but have not yet installed it. Very much appreciate your input.

It could be the battery or the alternator. What I recommend is this. Recharge the old battery (before installing the new one), and take the vehicle to a parts store. Have them load test the battery and check the alternator. That way you'll know which is causing the problem.

Let me know if you have other questions.
