Almost a year ago after an oil change my mechanic pointed out significant rust damage to the frame of my '95 Nissan Maxima. The affected part of the frame runs the width of the car, and rests underneath/seems to be the support arm for the radiator and engine. My mechanic said I need to begin looking for a new car immediately - I was running the risk of having the engine "fall out" as he put it. Nearly a year later, the car is still running perfectly. I can't ignore the rust damage, what can I do about it? Anything?

This just may be surface rust, which under normal conditions is not a problem, as I can't see it for my self, go get a second opinion from a panel shop as to the condition of the problem.

The engine will not fall out, but the core support will eventually need to be replaced
