I have a 454 in a suburban that has a miss and will cough and backfire when accelerated. Have changed distributor, wires, plugs, heat control switch, re timed.

First read and record any diagnostic fault codes. If there are none related to this problem, consider having a back-pressure test done on the exhaust system. That will show if a catalytic converter is plugged.
