I put a 1989 transmission into a 1995 chevy cavalier 2.2 automatic but the neutral safety switches are not compatible. The 95' switch is thicker so there is no room for the shifter linkage to fit on the output shaft. The 89' switch uses a flat connector that wont fit the 95' square one.I thought I could splice the older plug into the 95's wiring harness but can't seem to find any wiring schematics to go by.

This is why we always recommend direct fit parts. I honestly will not have a wiring schematic that will help you. You have to determine what wires when to where on each vehicle and then hope the computer will recognize the different switch.
