Hi,
I've just torqued up the cylinder head on a Landcruiser series 80 and realised that I forgot the washers under the head bolts. I'm wondering if I should remove each bolt individually, replace the washer and re-torque so that only one bolt is removed at a time, or loosen all bolts sequentially, replace the washers and re-torque? If I do this, will the new head gasket be OK, or will I need to replace it also?
Cheers
Jase

Since the washaerts were not installed, the torque would not be accurate and I would suggest loosening them all and retorquing all over.

Loosen the outer few bolts and torque them to 20 ft. Lbs so that the cylinder is not allowed to move and then loosen the others. Individually remove each bolt and starting from center in sequence, torque to 20 ft. Lbs first.

There should be no problem with the head gasket as long as you do not allow the head to open up a gap.
