My 94 4runner with a automatic has been having some transmission problems. Most of the time it runs fine. No hard shifts or anything like that. Sometimes when I'm going from a dead stop, like when I I come off the freeway most of the time, it doesn't move. It feels like I've shifted into 3rd or 4th. I can manually drop it into 1st and 2nd and it operates just fine. I haven't done some research and haven't an opinion but wanted an educated one.

Start simple first. Is the trans fluid clean and full? Are there any leaks? Has the check engine light come on?

I did a flush and replaced the filter. No leaks no check engine light. The overdrive light flashes some times but only when it's doing It. I've tried to get the codes read and of course it doesn't do it for the shop. It's also present odb2 so it's kinda a pain in the ass

IF the OD light is flashing, the first thing I would check is line pressure. The converter may have gone bad.

Okay. I will check that. I've heard that the solenoids do the same thing. Any possibility that it could be that. I've talked to a couple people and read some forums (not saying I'm an expert just because I've read some stuff). I'm just looking for as many options as possible.

Yes, a shift solenoid can cause it. However, it's odd that it works good and then doesn't.
