Is it hard to change the 2nd gear synchro if you only have a good idea of how a manual transmission works, but never actually done it before? If yes, what should I look out for? or what type of mistakes should i avoid doing? I am struggling to keep this car on the road with no money for a different car.. :(

You must be careful not to allow any of the syncro hubs to come apart, they have wire springs and very small slides that only go one way and are a pain to reassemble if they fall apart, there are some special pullers and tools required to dismantle the transmission as well, i would be doing the bearings and all syncros if you are going as far as doing the faulty one.
