I have a 1994 TS Mitsubishi 2.6 litre, 4 cylinder, Magna. I am trying to replace the timing and balance shaft chains. The instruction manual mentions that I must align "plated links" with marks on each of the gears. On the timing chain, there are supposed to be 2 plated links. The balance shaft is supposed to have 3 plated links. Unfortunately I have only been able to identify one plated link per chain. Can you suggest a better way to align these components properly. Your prompt reply would be appreciated. Thanks Michael.

Recheck the links. For both chains, note if any of the links seems to be darker than others. Those should be equivalent to being plated.
