I have a late 1994 model more like x300 and all brake pads were low so husband renewed and he has bled the brakes but when the engine is on the pedal sinks to floor but if you pump the pressure returns for a few seconds also is it normal for there to be a clicking sound coming from the centre consol when foot depressed on brake pedal and engine turned on simultaneously

Make sure the fluid is full and was the bleeding of brakes started at right rear? If not it has air in system. It sounds kin dof like a master cylinder may be bad. The click ing noise we can't respond to because we need to hear it. A professional should look at it.

I agree with hmac about not diagnosing a car you haven't seen, its rule number 1 and the 1st thing they teach you however I will say that it is possible the "clicking" you hear could be the shifter lock releasing which it connected to the brake pedal so you have to put your foot on the brakes before you shift. (Thanks to audi in the late 80's early 90's)
