1994 gmc sonoma (w/ 130,000 miles)for the longest time would have to hold the pedal to the floor to accelerate at a normal speed w/ traffic. It would shift at redline then start thru the next gear, slowly but surely(99% of the time) up to redline then all over again. Only on ocassion it would run like new. I checked and replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, cleaned out the gas tank, replaced the fuel sending unit, coil, wires, fuel filter, air filter, gas cap, catalytic converter and fuel filter. With the engine up to temp or cold cant rev very high unless feathered or coaxed then eventually sputters and dies, then wont start. If I prime it or spray a little starting fluid it will start immediately or after sitting for days it will eventually start. No check engine lights either. Also changed the oil and filter thinking the oil pressure sensor was cutting out the fuel. After changing the fuel sending unit it drove about 15 miles then died and wouldnt start. Normally, before changing the sending unit, I would let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes, after dying, it would start but not this time. It appears to be a fuel problem. Almost forgot once started and left alone will idle no problem for hours. Need help please!

Chek your fuel pressure, your pupmp may be shot. It should be 9-11 psi for a TBIunit 40 psi for a fuel injection. Also check the hose going to the map sensor as they get soft and suck together notletting the map work. If this is TBI then check the gasket under the unit as they tend to blow out. It can also be yoru fuel pressure regulator as well but a fuel pressure check will tell you that.
