1994 GMC C3500 turn signal

I try move the turn signal lever for a right hand turn and the lever won't move up. The lever move down for a left hand turn and it works just fine. How do I remove the turn signal switch plate from the steering column?

you need a puller for that actually it presses down and you have to remove a snap ring auto parts might rent it out. see pic
