You may have to check the sending unit in the gas tank?

The gauge moves to E then to F all by its self it moves all the time back and forward so you then it might be the sending unit in the tank

You could take the fuel pump connector loose, at the gas tank. In the diagram, the purple wire is voltage, gas gage, black wire is ground.

You could use a couple of different size resistors, between the purple wire and the black wire, key on, if gage reacts properly and steady to each resistor, I think the sending unit in the tank is faulty.

A 45 ohm resistor and a 90 ohm resistor should work ok. Radioshack sells resistors, they don't cost much.
