need to find a way to check for short

my charging amp gage shows a high charge in the morning when car has been off all night, I need a way to find out if there is something that is caousing a drain on the battery over time, is there a way to find that out

The first thing i would do is the have the battery tested also make sure the battery cables are clean and tight.Also have the alternator tested let me know what you find and we will go from there.

I put a new battery in and then had everything checked out at the shop and it starts and charges great, but for some reason there is some kind of short draining the battery a little bit at ight

Do you have a meter that will read milliamp and amp draw's?That's what your going to need to see how much is drawing.Then you will have to start pulling fuse's to see which circuit the draws is on.Look for glove box light's staying on trunk light's dome light's etc.
