This will work. The specific sequence to enable security system programming for 1993 and 1994 XJ6 is:

Ignition key off
Security switch (in center console) on
Ignition on, position 1
Security switch off
Ignition off
Toggle security switch 5 times.

At this point, you should hear a tone which notifies you that the system is in programing mode and you could program a remote, if you had one. My guess is that you would be able to start the car at this point.

Oops. How many remotes do you have? There are 5 remote learning slots. You must fill all slots even if you dont have 5 remotes. After initial chirp/headlight flash, Press arm/lock you should hear 1 tone. Rock valet 1 time you should hear 2 chirps press arm/lock of same or another remote, hear2 tones, rock valet 1 time, 3 chirps, etc up to 5.

On US models the key in the door and turned to unlock the door turns off the alarm. The rest of the world needs the remotes.

Interior problem
1995 Jaguar XJS 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The brochure that came with our car purchased used gives says:

To lock car and arm the system, press once, to turn on headlights after arming/locking, press again w/i 3 seconds, to unlock car and disarm the system, press once.

When I press once, I get an audible beep, but the doors don't lock. When I press again, the headlights come on. When I press the third time, I get two audible beeps.

Instructions also say "to turn system on/off, press switch located in the center stowage box. I'm presuming this is the stowage box between the driver and passenger seat. I cannot find any switch there.

Can you provide any guidance?

Thanks,
R.B. Irwin
