clutch problems?

grinds when trying to get into first when car is on.. same with reverse.. but if the car is off i can get into any gear fine.. and when clutch is all the way down my car still moves forward while in gear

Sounds like time to replace the clutch, if this is a hydrualic clucth check fluid.

is there anyway to tell for sure before i spend the money a new clutch kit

If you have good pedal pressure and there are no hydraulic leaks, the clutch will be worn out.
