How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. How long since you changed fuel filter and air filter?

You should be able to check codes, yourself. turn the key just till the dash lites come on, no further, no crank. Cycle the key on--off, on--off, on, then the mil on the dash starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

Just to add, make sure there is no pressure on the fuel system, before you take any lines loose.
