1992 Mercury Topaz crankshaft pully

i can turn pully about 1/4 of a turn and when its runing it makes a rattling noise it runs fine but makes that noise i want to know whats wrong and how can i fix the problem and how hard is it to fix

see if any pulleys are loose, take belt off and run if noise goes away it's one of the pulleys loose or worn out.

the pullys are ok but i can turn the crankshaft pully 1/4 of a turn clockewise and counterclockwise even with the belt on. when i crank it up it runs ok just has that noise

then do what I suggested and make sure your oil is full it may be an internal problem.
