i have a 1992 s-10 blazer, 4wd, i starting hearing a squeak under the car which progressively got worse. i thought it may be the brake pads. i bought and installed new pads on all 4 wheels. the old pads were worn but still had 1/8 inch of material left on them, rotors and drums looked good. when the car has been sitting a while i can drive it for 2 to 7 miles and everything is great, no noise in the brakes or anything, but after a few miles i start hearing a little squeak, which progressively gets worse. if i park again for a while i get the same scenario, no noise for a few miles, then the squeal starts and gets worse as i continue driving. once the squeal starts it continues whether brakes are applied or not. i can't isolate where the sound is coming from (i think the front), but my guess is it's either the front axles, or rear bearings, possibly a u-joint in drive line, or bearing in the drive train.
