I have a 91 chevy caprice and the alternator just gave out I'm having a hard time finding one that lines up now I'm thinking the engine has been replaced and being as old as it is it's going to be hard to find out how can I tell what kind of an engine it has without removing it?

Find the cylinder block or cylinder head casting numbers. Post the numbers. I'm sure somebody can find it?

I'm not sure if you can clock the alternator or not? To get connections to line-up?
