System Error

I have a 91 El Dorado Biaritz. The Driver Information Center relays the message SYSTEM PROBLEM. My service engine light then comes on.. Then my speedometer doesnt read along with the gas gauge. It will then flicker back to normal...Then the System Problem light repeats itself..Any do it yourself suggestions?

It may be a communications type concern, that can be caused by a specific module, or a circuit problem. You might be able to enter diagnostics and obtain a trouble code that may validate a communications fault, or other fault. If you press off and warmer on the climate panel, with the key on, it will segment check, and then display trouble codes.
