Hi Guys Melani here with my 1990 Nissan Stanza ok so the other night here in Vegas it was 27 degrees so the car started running rough like it was too cold. Tonight I noticed it hesitating just a little then I got to the store around the corner from my house so the car was NOT warmed up at all and I went to start the car and it wouldnt turn over HM? Its 2am and so I just kept trying finally the 4th time I held the pedal to the floor figuring it was flooded for some reason and it started gave it some gas for a good 10 seconds can hear it puttering just a bit then stopped so drove home. Now I do want to note that since summer I have NOT changed the oil and the oil in the car is the thinist because its 120 degrees here in the summer so I WILL get that changed tomorrow and put 20-50 I believe you said? My question is because it is so cold outside could it have not started because of the choke sticking? I have to drive this car everywhere for now so I need all the help I can get =) We all kno the lifter makes noise I just didnt think it would make the car not start or hesitate. Thanx Guys. Melani

I would be concentrating on a tune problem, plugs, leads and coil can cause this, it sounds like it is flooding and that the ignition is struggling to ignite the mixture, the fuel system sounds as if it is delivering fuel but the ignition is letting you down, now I don't have access to my tech data base just now so can you advise if it is injected or carby? As carby will have a choke the injected engine will not use a choke.

Hi Mark. Its fuel injected 4 cyl and I let it warm up today just was farting around it was nice outside around 70 degrees so I just let it sick and idle it was fine even the noisy lifter subsided after idling for about 15 mins. I just did the plugs in AUgust and will do an oil change in about an hour so that might help. It may just been having a moment who knows all I can do is pray it stays alive for a month until taxes so I can get her all tuned up again. We didnt do the wires or dist just the plugs in AUgust. Ok thanx have a good one =)

Run a diagnostic scan even if there is no MIL triggered, not all faults will set a code light, also clean the throttle body and the idle air valve and check for vacuum leaks.
