Engines stalls at 40 mph and when I try to crank it up, I have to use a wire from the battery to the coil module. 1990 lincon town car. When going less than 30 mph it does not stall. Only when I step on the gas pedal with force

Scan for any enginecode, check fuel pressure, check for a burnt fusible link at solenoid, it may be blue or orange going to a larger wire. Clean throttle plate on both sides with choke cleaner.

I had a diagnostic done. It came up with fuel pump and throttle body sensor. I have had 2 fuel pumps installed. The last 1 about a year ago. I recently put a new tps last week. When told that, the mechanic said that it could be a bad computer.I have replaced the fuel filter last week, air filter, ignition switch today, spark plugs, coil, distributor, new wire all within 2 months. I have the state imposed emmission tests done and all tests came in well below the maximum needed for passing. Before the problem of stalling when moving I had stalling while idling, while coasting to a stop and when accelerating from a stop. It also misses when starting but is not when driving after taking off.

Try resetting the security system if you have one and also try the choke cleaner on thethrottle plate. It might also be a vacuum leak which when running the choke cleaner will show that up by spraying on the intake tohead or throttle body.
