I changed the fuel pump external electric. What its doing is it will start with difficulty then run for a couple of mins then die. When I race engine and put into gear it will go for a little then it dies. Its getting fuel as I can see it in the carb and I had friend check to see if fuel pump was turning on it is. Any thoughts where to start looking? Thanks don

Don:

Is this vehicle fuel injected? You mentioned seeing gas in the carb. Have you checked to make sure fuel pump pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? Was the fuel filter replaced when the pump was?

Yes that ma be the problem what I did is to run a wire from pump to inline fuse 15 amp then to fuse box onto a lead that's hot when key on not when key off. Seems to run ok now will have to drive it tomorrow to check it. What's your theory?

That leads me to believe there is a problem with the power supply to the pump. Try it tomorrow and let me know how it runs. Have you tried switching the fuel pump relay?

There should be a relay box under the hood. Usually it is on the passenger side of the inner fender.
