I have an electric motor that comes on whenever I open or shut the trunk. It goes on or off whenever the is opened or closed. Several months ago either the motor or switch burned out. I need to know if the switch or motor is still available at a parts store such as pep boys or auto zone How do I check it?.

Parts like that are not carried by auto parts stores. Your best bet is to find an assembly in a salvage yard. Those were very low failure items so chances are whatever you find in another car will be good. If you want to do some electrical checks first, I'll have to research the system. I have that on my '93 Dynasty but I never worked on one.

Don't overlook the possibility of a blow fuse. They're in the glove box.
