Killed my engine

Hello, I have a 1989 Honda Accord. I accidentally ran it out of oil and killed the engine. I can buy a new engine for $500 and get it put in for another $500. The body is okay. I am poor and don't have money for another car. Should I get the new engine or save the money for another car?
