I have a 89 ford bronco and the oil gauge is getting hotter than usual. I check the oil and it is at the proper level. My oil pan drips slightly but not at a high level. Can the level of my transmission fluid affect the engine oil gauge?

The oil gauge indicates pressure, not temperature. If you're referring to the coolant temperature gauge, there are many potential causes for the engine getting too hot. If it's not overheating severely, the most likely suspect to start with would be corroded cooling fins on the radiator or the fins are blocked with bugs or other debris.
