NEW CABLE?
IS THE PORTION IT CONNECTS TO--BARE CLEAN METAL?
JUST GIVING YOU IDEAS--MAY NOT BE YOUR PROBLEM
THE STARTER IS ON THE ENGINE,
THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST REACH THE ENGINE "IN A BIG WAY"!
I DO NOT KNOW YOUR VEHICLE
SOMETIMES THERE ARE BRAIDED STRAPS THAT ATTACH AT THE FRAME AND "LEAP FROG" OVER THE MOTOR MOUNTS, ONTO THE ENGINE
OTHER CASES A LARGE CABLE, THE SIZE/ OR CLOSE TO THE SIZE OF THE "INITIAL" BATTERY CABLE. CONNECTING BOTH UNITS, SOMEWHERE!
WHATEVER OR WHEREVER IT IS IT IS CAPABLE OF HANDLING MEGA AMPS, DRAWN BY THE STARTER
NOT TO SCARE YOU OR ANYTHING.I ONCE SAW A OLD TRUCK ENGINE SWAP, WHERE THE STRAP, AROUND THE MOTOR MOUNT, WAS NOT RECONNECTED. WHEN IT WAS ATTEMPTED TO START, THE "BEST GROUND" AVAILABLE, WAS A MECHANICAL WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE "LEAD" (FOR LACK OF THE CORRECT NAME) KINDA A STIFF WIRE, RESEMBLING A LAWNMOWER THROTTLE CABLE. TURNED RED HOT, SET THE WIRING UNDER THE DASH ON FIRE. END OF STORY WAS NOT GOOD.3 OF US WATCHED IT TURN RED, AS THE OTHER CRANKED. WARNINGS EXCLAIMED TOO LATE!
LIKE I SAID, MAY NOT BE YOUR PROBLEM, STARTER MAY BE HUNG UP/ BAD/ INCORRECTLY CONNECTED/ OTHER.
OR LIKE RASMATAZ SAID, "DIRECT SHORT". THAT MIGHT COULD BE INSIDE THE STARTER. OR ELSEWHERE.
