I just got an 88 gmc sierra that belonged to my grandpa. The truck has been sitting for over an year and hasn't been started or anything. I replaced the battery and the truck started right up and was running great until I put gas in it. I had driven it approximately 12 miles.

Truck was running fine until gas was put in it. Replaced fuel filter thinking that might be the problem but did not fix it.

Okay, you need to check fuel pump pressure. You will need a gauge. Most parts stores will lend them to you or rent them. Go to our homepage under the DIY section. There are detailed directions and a video that shows you how to do it. To that and let me know what you find. There is a good chance you are correct. The new gas may have caused dirt to damage the pump.

LEt me know what you find and I'll check pressure specs. I think it needs to be around 50psi, but I need to confirm that.

Have a good Thanksgiving day if I don't hear from you till after.
