'88 F-350, stuck in 3rd gear. 4spd w/o.d., 7.3 diesel.

Was stuck in 1st, tugged on shifter hard to get it out, shifter came down into 2nd gear position, tried to get it out of 2nd, it got stuck.Clutch still releases and I was standing still..so was trk. Cannot move shifter. Shifter drops down thru top of tranny.

Had the same problem with a transmission in a Mustang. There is a shift rod and fork that has been bent and will need to be replaced. It's the fork that shifts between 3rd and 4th.
