I have an 87 740Turbo that I've just brought back to life. It sat for about 6 yrs. Before I rescued it. So far, I've replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, rotor, cap, wires, PCV unit, full exhaust, rebuilt the turbo, replaced the intake and exhaust gaskets, the fuel pressure regulator, replaced any vacuum hoses that were funky, the radiator and heater hoses, and flushed the oil, coolant, and trans fluid. It has a full tank of new fuel. The problems that remain are that the dash temp sensor isn't working (did have it going at one point by jiggling the sensor wires) but it's out now, but the real problem is that the car is very slow to accelerate and bogs/tries to stall if I push it from idle. The car will start and idle but begins hesitating severely from a start. If I feather the gas, I can get it up to 50 mph but that seems like the top end. I have not yet tried to measure the fuel pressure; however, the temp sensor issue troubles me. Could that be the cause? I also have what I think is another used MAP sensor (is that the one on top of the air filter box?) That I may swap but I'm thinking of working on the Temp sensor first by replacing the one in the block and perhaps swapping the one in the radiator with a used one I have. Then pulling the IAC to see what it looks like. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
