Ok so I have a slight issue, again, my horn wont work and I have to make it work immediately, I have a 1987 cadillac with a telescopic steering wheel, those are always fun to work with and I had to fix the ignition. My friend and I repaired that but the horn didnt work afterwards and he forgot to put the spring to push the wheel out when you release the telescopic locking arm, are those connected in any way? And I assume the spring loaded pin contacts the ring to make a positive connection to the horn seeing as the rest is grounded to the wheel itself, I find no positive connection to the wheel at all, so here are the things I need to know.
to remove the contact plate do you have to remove the lock plate, because if so id rather scrap the car than go through that mess again.
how does the contact plate connect to the car itself? Like what is connected directly to the plate on the under side. I dont need a full scematic just the connection method at the plate.
i dont have a steering wheel puller at the moment so I have to kinda guess and figure this out blindly for now and it has to be done by tomorrow morning

Ok, the ground wire for the horn comes through the turn signal switch assembly. It energises a brass ring that the button attaches to that goes to the touch pad on the wheel.

You can find the wire at the end of the harness that goes up the column. I believe it is a black wire and you can put an external button to operate it. It is not right or professional but will suffice if you need it asap. You still need to have it repaired correctly.

Use a test light at the connector. When you find the wire, the test light should be enough of a ground to make the horn work.

Only problem is I dont have a test light, or know where the harness is lol. It just kinda runs into a bundle of hundreds of other wires, gotta love cadillacs. But ill figure it out, if all else fails ill run through the firewall to the relay
