1986 GMC Truck Transmission?

When I put it in drive it will move but will not go in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Its not slipping. The transmission is a 700R4

check fluid level then see if throttle cable is broken then have a trans guy look at it. probably time for a rebuild
