Had my 1986 Dodge Ram 150, 8 cylinder, single cargurator, in for smog work. They replaced the EGR Valve. When I picked up the truck it started with a back-fire and ran terrible all the way home. I had to keep goosing it with the gas pedal. At stop lights I put it in neutral and kept my foot on the gas. I called the guy and he said bring it back it may need a tune up. Ran fine going in there, just ran terrible coming out. He said to check the wires to make sure all the wires are connected. HELP

I would return the vehicle to the shop and demand that they repair the problem. If it ran good going in, then their work caused a problem. Chances are the old EGR was fine. Check for vacuum leaks and make sure the EGR is tight and properly seated.
