1986 Acura Legend acura legend won't shift

my shifter is stuck like its jammed. it wont move with all my power. what could the problem be? is it something i can do myself?

cold be a bad cable or the shift interlock isn't working and not allowing you to move from park. check fuses for that underhood and in car

Your car has a little slot near the gear selector. It is there to allow you to put the ignition key into it and this will allow you to move the gear selector from park to neutral and then start the vehicle, then put it in drive or whatever and be on your way.

There reason that this is necessary is because the Shift Interlock Solenoid has either went bad, wires have been cut of the fuse is bad. Check the fuses. The shift interlock is located under the shift console at the base of the shifter.
