Sure. Visit a body shop and let them look at it. Are you referring to the front or rear bar? The only thing I can think of that could be considered to be attached to the body is the rear bar's mounting brackets that are bolted to the frame rails. That would be a rather easy fix for a body shop.
I have newer cars, but my daily driver up here in the Wisconsin salt-use capital of the world is a 1988 Grand Caravan. I would do anything to keep that thing on the road vs. Drive a newer car that I can't trust any further than I'm willing to walk back home. I could type for an hour on why I would rather have you get your car fixed instead of buying something newer, especially a newer GM product.
