bmw automatic transmission gears

My car does not shift into any gears. On the freeway, my car stopped accelerating. The brakes kicked in and then turned off, and my car coasted the rest of the way to a stop. Now, I cannot get my car out of neutral. It will not shift into any gear, including reverse. I think that it is an electrical problem, but I am not sure. my car is a 1983 533i BMW. There are problems with it, such as air flow and power steering. If you could help me out, it would be much appreciated.

These appear to be a fully mechanical transmission, i would be thinking that it has suffered a major internal failure, i would be getting a trans tech to do a test and report to get a better idea as to what this will cost to repair.
